Important Information

Here is some important information about our school
Hot Lunch
Hot lunches will be free again this year! Students will be asked in class if they will be purchasing a hot lunch. Make sure your child knows to raise their hand to be included in the lunch count for the day.
Arrival/Dismissal Times
Students can arrive on campus at 7:20am for breakfast. At 7:35am all students can be on campus and line up with their class. The warning bell rings at 7:45am and students should be in their classroom. Gates will close at 7:45am and all students will need to go through the office. The Tardy bell rings at 7:50am. Students arriving at this time or later will be marked tardy. Regular dismissal is at 2:15pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Early Release is every Wednesday at 1:15pm.  All students must be picked up at dismissal through valet if by car, or they can meet parents out in front of Kindergarten classrooms to walk home.  Parents should not be late picking students up as there is not supervision after 2:25pm. Students enrolled in Child Care should report immediately after the dismissal bell for Child Care attendance.
Parent Portal
Parents must update their child's parent portal at the start of every school year. Please visit portal.pylusd.org and log-in to your child's portal. You can do this anytime and keep us well informed. In the event of an emergency, we use the information you provide to contact you or other people you list on your child's emergency contact list.  We do requrie a utility bill or other form of address verification to change your home address.  Please provide this to the office if you move during the school year or over the summer.
If your child is absent or going to be late you must leave a message on the attendance line. Call 714-986-7110, extension #3.  Students will be marked truant if the absence is not cleared within 48 hours.
Lost and Found
Please remember to label everything your child brings to school. It will be easier to return lost items to students. All lost items will be placed in the Lost and Found box which is located outside the Multi Purpose room.  Please check this box if your student is missing jackets, lunch boxes, etc. Lost and Found items are donated at the end of each trimester.

Important Reminders
Street Sweeping
  • Brookhaven Ave:  MONDAYS from 7:30am to 12:00pm
  • Bower Ave:            TUESDAYS from 12:00pm to 4:00pm
(every 1st and 3rd Monday and Tuesday)
RED Curbs
Do not park along a red curb on Brookhaven Ave for drop off or pick up.  It is a parking violation and you will be ticketed.
ID Badges for Volunteers
All volunteers/visitors must show ID and pick up a badge/sticker to enter the campus. You are required to wear an ID badge while here. If you plan on Volunteering regularly you can have a Permanent photo ID badge made. Photos for permanent ID badges will be taken at Brookhaven's School picture day. Please check the school calendar on our website for day & time of picture day.
Delivery of forgotten items
As stated in the Brookhaven Student-Parent handbook, to limit disruptions to the instructional day and the learning environment, all homework, lunches, and snacks can not be delivered to the classrooms. Parents must leave these items in the office.
  • Lunches brought to the office will be placed in a basket and brought out to the lunch tables by the noon supervisors. Please instruct your child to check the basket if they have forgotten their lunch. Lunches MUST be labeled with name and grade.
  • Homework, books, etc, will be placed in the teachers box and retrieved by the teacher at his/her convenience.
  • Instruments - If a student forgets their instrument, he/she will still attend music class that day. Please do not bring forgotten instruments to the office.
